About the conference
The International Conference on Media, Religion, and Culture is organized every two years by the International Society for Media, Religion, and Culture. The first public International Conference was held in Boulder, Colorado in 1996, and subsequent conferences have taken place in Edinburgh, Scotland; Louisville, KY; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sigtuna, Sweden; and Toronto, CAN. Founding members of the International Society's Board include: Stewart Hoover, University of Colorado; Lynn Schofield Clark, University of Denver; John Ferre, University of Louisville; Alf Linderman, Sigtuna Stiftelsen; Mia Lovheim, Uppsala University; Jolyon Mitchell, University of Edinburgh; Magali do Nasciemento Cunha, Methodist University of Sao Paulo; and Johanna Sumiala, University of Helsinki,Joyce Smith, Ryerson University. The Center for Media, Religion, and Culture at the University of Colorado serves as the Society's global secretariat.
